The National Risk Reduction and Management Council stated that there are currently floods in approximately 66 locations in Davao del Norte, and landslides have occurred in 44 areas in Davao de Oro, as per the Davao City Information Office.

In response to the devastating Davao Regional floods wreaking havoc in the Davao region, Speaker Martin Romualdez has endorsed a financial aid package of up to P150 million to support victims in their recovery from the detrimental impact of heavy rainfall.

The aid comprises 21,000 food packs drawn from the Speaker’s personal calamity funds, supplemented by an additional 30,000 food packs provided by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

The financial aid, distributed through the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations program, is allocated to various Davao lawmakers and local government executives.

Breakdowns include P20 million each for Davao de Oro Reps. Maricar Zamora and Ruwel Gonzaga, Davao Oriental Reps. Cheeno Almario and Nelson Dayanghirang, Davao del Norte Rep. Aldu Dujali, PBA Party-list Rep. Migz Nograles, Davao del Norte Vice Gov. Oyo Uy, and Davao de Oro Vice Governor Tyron Uy.

Additionally, 21,000 food packs have been dispatched to Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, and Davao de Oro for affected families. The Office of Civil Defense-Davao reported 455 families evacuated and severely affected as the region faced widespread Davao regional floods, damaged bridges, and triggered landslides due to continuous heavy rains.

On Thursday, a resident inspected the vehicles carried away by the floods that impacted Samantha Homes Subdivision in Barangay Bago Gallera, Davao City, on Wednesday night.
